This Siirt blanket's design reflects the steps to paradise. It was hand-woven in Eastern Turkey and is about 25 years old. It does show some signs of usage but is in very good conditions without any stains. The characteristic diagonal chequered design is subtle and only visible at second sight. The crimped pile immediately makes you want to touch and feel the rug.
MATERIALS
For the weft, finest mohair wool of the local Angora goat was mixed with sheep wool. We estimate a percentage of 50% mohair and 50% sheep wool. The warp is made of cotton.

Warm brown and natural white. All colours are natural.
MEASUREMENTS
75 x 128 cm
CARE INSTRUCTION
This blanket was professionally cleaned. It is machine washable at 30° Celsius. Do not spin. Dry flat.

THE STORY BEHIND
All our Siirt blankets were hand-crafted by Kurdish men in Eastern Turkey, where weaving with goat wool has a history dating back to 6500 BC. Today, only a few places still manufacture Siirt blankets. Most of our stock comes from private households and has already served local families. Every blanket tells its own story, adding and incomparable touch of history and cosmopolitan flair to our home.
