This Siirt blanket's design reflects running water, a symbol of purity. It was hand-woven in Eastern Turkey. The characteristic diagonal chequered design is intriguingly visible "behind" the colour pattern and best viewed from a certain distance. The horizontal beige, brown and white stripes give the blanket a modern yet timeless look.
MATERIALS
For the weft, finest mohair wool of the local Angora goat was mixed with sheep wool and cotton. The warp is made of cotton.
COLOURS
Natural white, reddish brown, and beige. Depending on the incidence of light, the beige sometimes takes on a rather greyish hue. All colours are natural.
MEASUREMENTS
78 x 122 cm
CARE INSTRUCTION
This blanket was professionally cleaned. It is machine washable at 30° Celsius. Do not spin. Dry flat.

THE STORY BEHIND
All our Siirt blankets were hand-crafted by Kurdish men in Eastern Turkey, where weaving with goat wool has a history dating back to 6500 BC. Today, only a few places still manufacture Siirt blankets. Most of our stock comes from private households and has already served local families. Every blanket tells its own story, adding and incomparable touch of history and cosmopolitan flair to our home.
